Last month, popular Indian sitcom Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah completed 12 years of run on television. Being completed more than 2,700 episodes, the show is the longest-running sitcom in Indian history. Owing to the popularity and tremendous fan following, the makers are set to present the show in a new form with an interesting twist to it.
It is learnt that Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’s producer Asit Kumarr Modi is set to reprise the important characters of the show in an animated version.
According to the report in Livemint, Modi said, “We are also looking at launching a fun streaming and gaming app in the next two to three months with our already identifiable characters. We will start streaming in Hindi and then venture into Gujarati, Marathi and other languages. We want to make the Taarak Mehta brand bigger.”
Speaking about the idea of Taarak Mehta, he added, ” There was a time when on Indian television, everything was about routine saas bahu tactics or extramarital affairs. I had been thinking for a long time that there should be a daily comedy too, and one that would touch people.”
Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah was first aired on 28th July 2008.
