Zack Snyder already had much bigger plans for the DC Universe than audiences could have imagined. Even though we got a hunch from his four-hour-long ‘Justice League’, it was only one chapter of a much larger story.
When Snyder stepped away from DC, several storylines remained unfinished. While his version of ‘Justice League’ arrived in 2021, the filmmaker had already imagined what would happen to the rest of the team going forward.
In a March 2021 interview with GQ, Zack Snyder opened up about his planned DC sequels. Snyder’s idea included a terrifying future for DC, devastating character deaths, and a final battle that brought all DC heroes together.

Zack Snyder Would Have Made Superman The World’s Greatest Threat
According to Zack Snyder’s plan, the next Justice League movie would have focused on Darkseid’s invasion of Earth. He even thought of including Lex Luthor as a villain who would give away Superman’s weakness, that is, Lois Lane’s pregnancy.
During the invasion, Lois would have taken shelter inside the Batcave, only for Batman to fail to save her. Overwhelmed with grief, the Anti-Life would have taken control of Superman. Now that Superman was fighting for Darkseid, naturally, Earth would have fallen too.
Batman Would Have Made The Ultimate Sacrifice
The story would then have jumped into the devastated future, where a small group of surviving heroes would have tried to reverse the destruction. Their plan involved using a Mother Box and Cyborg’s abilities to send the Flash back in time and giving Batman another chance to save Lois.
The Joker would have helped the survivors find the kryptonite and reach the Mother Box. Although several heroes would have lost their lives, the Flash would have escaped Superman and traveled back just in time. This time, Batman would have sacrificed himself to protect Lois and allowed Superman to arrive before Darkseid could kill her.
The final battle would have brought all the DC heroes together. Then, Superman, freed from Darkseid’s control, would have become the central hero and emotional leader of the Justice League.
After Earth’s victory, Zack Snyder planned to jump ahead 20 years and show how Superman and Lois’ son would have grown up with superpowers, only to take up Batman’s mantle.
