In ‘X-Men: Days of the Future Past’, we saw how Kitty Pryde projected Wolverine’s consciousness back to 1973 to stop the creation of the deadly Sentinels and save the mutants from extinction. But Wolverine wasn’t alone. We also saw how younger Charles Xavier and Magneto woke up in the rewritten timeline, stopped the assassination, and altered history forever.
That intervention reset and rewrote the franchise’s entire timeline from 1973 and created a new future. Marvel fans now predict that Wolverine’s actions might have unknowingly split the timeline and given the X-Men a peaceful future. But the film never shows us the consequences of changing history.
Maybe when the X-Men changed one future, they also altered events across the wider multiverse. Besides, this also brings us to Tony Stark’s warning from ‘Avengers: Endgame,’ “When you mess with time, it tends to mess back.”

How Could X-Men’s Timeline Changes Lead to Avengers: Doomsday?
In ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’, Marvel showed us how the incursions affect the different realities. Even in the 2015 ‘Secret Wars’ comics, Marvel gave a glimpse of how Doctor Doom acquired god-like power, used extraordinary power to construct the Battleworld from the remains of destroyed realities, and became central as the universes collided.
This theory gained more strength when Kevin Feige, the President of Marvel Studios, confirmed that Doomsday might draw inspiration from the comic storylines involving colliding universes and timelines. That connects the story directly to Jonathan Hickman’s Secret Wars, Avengers, and New Avengers.
While we have already seen glimpses of Secret Wars and New Avengers in ‘Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness’ and ‘Captain America: Brave New World’, we haven’t seen much of the Avengers’ comic-book story yet in the films. But now, after seeing the cast and trailers for Avengers: Doomsday, it’s clear that we’ll soon see the new storyline unfold as they team up to build their own Avengers Machine.
Apart from the comic-book storylines, ‘Avengers: Endgame Encore‘ already gave us an Easter egg regarding the upcoming threat for the X-Men universe. In the additional footage, TVA identifies Earth-10005, the universe of the Fox X-Men and Deadpool, colliding with Earth-1127, which remains unknown. Will X-Men finally pay the price?
