Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana: Part 1 doesn’t end with a bang. It ends with a funeral, a vow, and a roar, and every one of those is a promise of a bigger Part 2. If you walked out when the credits began, you missed the moment the whole theatre was waiting for – the entry of Lord Hanuman. Yes, if you did not wait till the end, then you missed Sunny Deol’s voice giving a tease of the sequel. Let’s decode the end, scene by scene.

Although if you haven’t seen the film yet, then you might want to skip this piece and return once you watch the film! Not that you do not know the story of Ramayana, but because the way, Nitesh Tiwari has presented the film, it would spoil the experience for you!

Where Does Ramayana Part 1 End?

If you were expecting a Ram-Ravana showdown, you won’t find one here. Instead of ending with a confrontation between Ram and Ravana, the film closes with the funeral of Jatayu. Following Sita’s abduction, Jatayu fights Ravana but is gravely wounded and tells Ram which way Sita has been taken. Interestingly, Jatayu’s fight with Ravana is the most spectacular sequence of the film.

Jatayu’s Last Words: The Most Important Scene

The dying warrior bird warns Ram that the journey to Lanka will be difficult and, once there, even worse. Ravana rules three realms and commands a huge army of Asuras, including his brother Kumbhakarna and his mystically powerful son Meghanada. The film shows Raghav Juyal, playing Meghnad and the tease looks powerful!

Ramayana Sets Up Way To Part 2

Jatayu’s passing away is not only a death scene, but it also sets the tone for the sequel and briefs the sequences of the second part of the franchise! After all the grandeur of Ayodhya and Lanka, the film pauses to mourn, and then it roars a Jai Shri Ram in Sunny Deol’s voice that makes the theater finally cheer!

Ram’s Vow: The Beginning Of The End Of Ravana’s Rule

This is where Ranbir Kapoor‘s calm Ram finally lets the fire show. Reflecting on the setbacks he has suffered, Ram understands the true purpose of his life and promises that no matter how powerful Ravana is, he will end his reign and bring Sita back. The film closes with that roaring promise. The Maryada Purushottama is now a warrior with a goal, and Part 2 is going to be about how he reaches it, once he meets Lord Hanuman!

The Post-Credit Scene: Sunny Deol’s Hanuman Takes Flight

Now, the moment everyone is talking about. As the credits roll with the Hanuman Chalisa playing, we see a dense forest where Lord Hanuman runs and takes a giant leap. In mid-air, Sunny Deol’s roaring voice chants Jai Shri Ram. That’s it. Three words, and the entire theatre erupts. Sunny’s face remains unseen, and his voice alone creates the impact. The makers have kept his full Hanuman look as a big reveal for the Part 2 campaign. However, I am not sure if it would be an animated character or if he would actually appear in the film!

The Hanuman Chalisa in the background is sung by Sukhwinder, Diljit Dosanjh, Mohit Chauhan, Shankar Mahadevan, and Kailash Kher!

The Part 2 Date: Diwali 2028

After the Hanuman reveal, the film drops another bomb. A card on screen announces: Ramayana Part 2 Diwali 2028, Releasing Worldwide. Producer Namit Malhotra has said the makers want a bit more time to do complete justice to such a big piece of work. That’s a two-year wait, and some fans won’t love it, but the war in Lanka is the biggest set piece of the epic, so the extra time makes sense!

What To Expect From Ramayana Part 2

The sequel will focus on Ram raising his army of Vanaras and taking the fight to Lanka. Going by the epic, that means the meeting of Ram and Hanuman, the search for Sita, Hanuman’s leap across the sea, and the road to the Ram-Ravana battle!

Ramayana: Part 1 ends the way the epic itself does at this point, with grief turning into resolve. Jatayu’s last words raise the stakes, Ram’s vow raises the temperature, and Sunny Deol’s Hanuman raises the roof. The only question left is whether Part 2 can match the promise of this ending, and if it does, Diwali 2028 will be worth the wait. Sunny Deol’s Jai Shri Ram assures – Yes!
