The soon-to-be mama, Katy Perry recently spoke up in favour of talk show host Ellen DeGeneres when current and former employees of The Ellen DeGeneres Show alleged that the show has a toxic work environment. The ‘Roar’ singer has now revealed why she publicly defended DeGeneres.
For the unversed, besides claiming that the show has a toxic work environment, the employees also alleged sexual misconduct by senior producers on the show. Besides Katy Perry, other celebrities like Kevin Hart, Diane Keaton and Ashton Kutcher too came forth in her support. Since then, the stars have attracted a lot of public criticism for supporting DeGeneres while her series is under internal investigation.
In an interview with LA Times, Katy Perry said, “I started that tweet off not undermining anyone else’s experience. I wanted to only speak from my own experience. I have over 100 million people that follow me on Twitter, so not everyone is going to agree with me. And I’m not here to make everyone agree with me.”
In an internal memo to her staff last month, DeGeneres responded to the allegations, admitting she had “not been able to stay on top of everything and relied on others to do their jobs as they knew I’d want them done. Clearly some didn’t. That will now change and I’m committed to ensuring this does not happen again.”

She tweeted, “I know I can’t speak for anyone else’s experience besides my own but I want to acknowledge that I have only ever had positive takeaways from my time with Ellen & on the @theellenshow. I think we all have witnessed the light & continual fight for equality that she has brought to the world through her platform for decades. Sending you love & a hug, friend @TheEllenShow Heart suit”
