Dev Patel is shifting gears in his acting career, and how. The Slumdog Millionaire actor is all set for the release of his directorial debut, Monkey Man. Produced by maestro Jordan Peele, Monkey Man had its SXSW premiere, where Dev Patel got a standing ovation.
The Lion star has had quite an illustrious career since his breakthrough in the Oscar-winning movie Slumdog Millionaire. Patel has appeared in many critically acclaimed movies and commercially loved films. He also has an Oscar nomination, no big deal.
Dev Patel now stars in Monkey Man, also his directorial debut. Jordan Peele produces the movie and stars Bollywood Actors Sobhita Dhulipala and Sikander Kher in pivotal roles. The film also stars Sharlto Copley and Adithi Kalkunte in essential roles.
Lord Hanuman’s story inspires the movie’s premise; Dev plays the lead role in this Mumbai-based action film about a guy seeking revenge on the evil leaders who killed his mother and still victimized the weak and impoverished.
The movie premiered at the esteemed SXSW festival, which celebrates arts and cinema. Dev Patel was overwhelmed after the premiere of his film because he received a tremendous standing ovation from the crowd.

There is a lot of great buzz around the movie. It is an emotionally led action thriller, with homage to his Indian roots and tipping his hat to the gore-filled action movies of the 90s. Dev Patel’s Monkey Man is one of the most highly anticipated movies this summer.
