Amanda Seales Reveals She Made An Exit From ‘The Real’ Due To Lack Of Black Leadership

Amanda Seales exit from the popular daytime show, The Real, raised a lot of eyebrows. The comedian has now opened up on the reason why she chose to make the move, and it is lack of black leadership on the team. Below is all the entire thing she has to say.
Amanda Seales spoke about how we only give attention to the ones in front of the camera. We forget that the product is a result of various people working on it. This includes the production company, the network and the showrunners.
“We don’t vet these things, we kind of just feel like, Ah, we’ll figure that out, but these are the people who are actually going to be choosing the content that you’re doing and they’re gonna be the ones walking you through the steps every day,” Amanda Seales said in an interview with Hollywood Unlocked.
Talking about The Real, the actor revealed how every sequence of the show, including the famous ‘Girl Chat’ segment was helmed by white executives. This certain segment had a diverse cast discussing their viewpoints.
Amanda Seales said, “I was on a show that on its core base is okay; these are diverse women who are talking about things and keeping it real to a diverse audience. When in reality it’s being run by, you know, a White woman, who doesn’t have the connection to that experience and our topics are being picked by someone who doesn’t. And, you know, our chat is produced by a White man who, even if he has the best of intentions, he has a disconnect by simply his experience in the world from what we’re going to be addressing.”
Amanda Seales also spoke how the lack of black representation was a problem on every level. She said that even the people sitting on top are white and they decided the best for their show, but not for the community.
In the interview further, she took a stand and said that tokenism cannot solve the type of problems that she has gone through.
