Recently, rapper Master P revealed that rapper J. Cole is actively training to find himself an NBA spot and pursue a career there. He said that the young Cole icon came to him for advice and is dead serious about playing in the NBA.
And now it seems like we may be in for a treat aka an NBA x hip-hop crossover event pretty soon. NBA team, Detroit Pistons have reached out to rapper J. Cole to try out for the team.
Detroit Pistons posted the invite to twitter which read: “. @JColeNC we see you out here. You said they only got 12 slots on the Pistons. Hit us up for that tryout. This is for all the dreamers @bleacherreport #Dreamville.”

J. Cole fans have been contemplating that the rapper has been angling for a shot at the NBA ever since he released a commercial called ‘The Dreamer.’ In the commercial, he goes through an intense basketball workout.
The voice-over in the video goes like, “You can’t be serious. I know you ain’t about to try to do what I think you’re trying to do. ‘Cause that would be crazy. “I mean, what’s the odds? I know you’ve got more sense than that young blood.”
The rumours picked up steam when Master P told TMZ during an interview that Cole was serious. He told the portal that Cole called him up to ask his advice on how to make it on an NBA roster. Master P says he told Cole he has a long road ahead of him, and that he’ll have to prove his dedication and consistency.
Master P signed two NBA contracts, one with the Hornets and another with the Raptors in 1998 and 1999. He played in the preseason but never in the regular season.
J. Cole was a star basketball player in high school and even tried out for St. John’s during his time in college.
On the other hand, The Detroit Pistons are preparing to undergo a much-needed rebuild. Only Christian Wood, Sekou Doumbouya and maybe Luke Kennard may still stay on board.
