Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani opened as the biggest Bollywood player in the overseas market this year. Race 2, which had so far since January sustained itself as the biggest money raking opener in the global markets has finally suffered a beating at the hands of Ayan Mukerji directed Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone starer film. While the movie was welcomed with a grand opening at most key circuits in the global markets, it also went on to become both Ranbir and Deepika’s biggest opening ever in the overseas market.
Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, by the end of its first weekend, collected a great sum of 3.49 crores in U.K and Ireland circuit. The film that was released in 88 screens there opened to a number 8 position at the U.K box-office.
The film in U.S.A surpassed its U.K collections. Earning a whooping sum of 9.33 crores in U.S.A and Canada, the film settled at a number 9 position at the U.S.A box office. Screened at 162 theaters in the region so far, the film did phenomenally well despite the release of the concluding part of Hollywood’ favorite Hangover series.
The Gulf Co-operation Council Countries and U.A.E together saw the film turn into a money spinner. With most shows at Gulf cinemas running houseful there, especially in Qatar, the film earned a 4.61 crore in just Friday and Saturday alone.
The film in Australia circuit, that sports a high South Asian expat population saw a fabulous performance from the film. Earning 1.46 crores, the film saved itself a number 5 position at the country’s domestic box office.
In the adjoining circuits New Zealand, the film earned 36.33 lacs through its first weekend.
The film has been putting up a magnificent show at both the domestic and overseas markets so far. With praiseworthy performances from its lead pair, along with their magical chemistry, the film is expected to create new wonders at both the domestic and global box office.
