The Odyssey Crosses $100 Mn In China
On Wednesday, the film added another $530k to its total collection. The film played on 18,000 screens on its 4th Wednesday, down 4,000 from the previous week. Matt Damon-starrer has become the first non-seque/IP Hollywood film to cross the $100 million mark in China. Overall, it is the 12th Hollywood film to reach the milestone.
In just 27 days, The Odyssey achieved the $100 million mark in the Chinese box office despite competition from local juggernauts. The film has now collected $165k in pre-sales for its 4th Thursday. It is a solid feat for the mythological epic in China. It will need to beat Meg 2: The Trench‘s $115.7 million to break into the top 10 post-COVID Hollywood grossers.

Meanwhile, at the domestic box office, The Odyssey is edging closer to the $600 million milestone. It stands at $590.5 million domestically, and with that, the film’s worldwide total has hit $1.64 billion. After Labor Day, the film reclaimed the #1 spot in the US box office rankings. On Labor Day, it dropped to #3 despite a collection of over $4 million. On Tuesday, the film earned $1.6 million, a 61% drop from its Labor Day collection. Â
