After mesmerizing the audience with his social drama Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, Akshay Kumar is back with yet another thought-provoking film PadMan that deals with menstruation and sanitary hygiene. And the film is already garnering appreciations from all quarters.

The movie has been gaining massive appreciation because of the way the moviemakers have dealt with the whole issue. A lot of people have been excited for the movie because of the buzz before it’s release. The film has received fantastic reviews from critics, and the collection is expected to pick up further over the weekend.

The film is directed by R Balki and produced by Twinkle Khanna under her home banner Mrs Funnybones Productions. The film also stars Radhika Apte and Sonam Kapoor in pivotal roles. The film is based on the story of Arunachalam Muruganantham, inventor of low-cost sanitary napkins for women in rural areas.

After collecting an amount of 10.26 crore at the box office on its day one, our prediction is that the movie will earn an amount of 13.50 – 14 crores on it’s Day 2 at the box office. The collections are definitely going to pick up over the weekend and since it’s a solo release, Padman will enjoy earning money at the box office.

With the release of Neeraj Pandey’s Aiyaary getting pushed to February 16, PadMan had a solo release. The film was much talked-about before its release – #PadManChallenge is one of the top trends in social media, thanks to the participation of many bigwigs from the world of entertainment, sports and other fields.

While the film has opened to good reviews from audience and critics alike, it just hit a roadblock with Akshay Kumar being accused of plagiarism. Ripu Daman Jaiswal has accused the makers of PadMan of taking scenes in the film from a script he had written. The writer has filed an FIR against Akshay Kumar and he alleges that he had sent a script to Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions and scenes in the film have been lifted from his story.

Akshay, apart from Padman, has films like 2.0 and Gold in his kitty — each different from the other.
