Akshay Kumar, Sonam Kapoor and Radhika Apte’s much-awaited film Padman has finally hit the theatres today.
Akshay Kumar’s Padman was released in 2750 screens in India and 600 screens overseas whereas his previous film Toilet: Ek Prem Katha was released in 3000 screens in India and 590 screens in overseas. In the morning shows, the film had witnessed occupancy of around 25-30% at the box office as compared to his last movie Toilet: Ek Prem Katha which could secure 30%-35% occupancy.
The star power of Akshay Kumar and Sonam Kapoor should definitely help the film to score a good opening weekend. The film’s power lies in its target audience, the women whose strength in the theatres, is on what the future of the film rests on.
