Y-Films’ Mujhse Fraaandship Karoge, released last week, collected Rs. 2.17 crore over its first weekend at the box-office. The film got off to a slow start making Rs. 50 lakh (all-India net collection) on the opening day (Friday, October 14). Though the release of the film in the dull pre-Diwali weeks was a dampener, collections saw a very good spike Saturday onwards. The film collected a net of Rs. 75 lakh on Saturday, a pickup of 50 per cent. Collections went up on Sunday also (Rs. 92 lakh net; a spike of almost 100 percent over Friday’s collections).
Mujhse Fraaandship Karoge, directed by debutante director Nupur Asthana and starring four newcomers, was primarily targeted at the youth. The increase in collections means that the film has been appreciated by the audience.
All of the other Hindi releases of last Friday – Mod, Aazaan, Jo Dooba So Paar and My Friend Pinto – did dismal business at the box-office.
