Bollywood suffered disappointment over the week gone by with neither I Me Aur Main nor The Attacks of 26/11 managing to do well. Both opened to poor start and couldn’t show much escalation over the weekend. While the John Abraham starrer didn’t really see much brownie points coming its way, Ram Gopal Varma’s real life tale was unfortunately ignored despite the fact that many who actually saw the film had good words to say about this.
Let’s talk about I Me Aur Main first. Many associated with the film gave up on it soon after its release. In fact even the lead players conceded defeat soon after the opening weekend and while many factors were being pin pointed at, the fact remains that there wasn’t much excitement build up amongst the audience. Post release feedback didn’t help the cause as much and as a result, this Kapil Sharma directed film managed only around 8 crores at the end of its one week run. As things stand today, not much is expected to be added to this total, as a result of which the film is a theatrical flop.
On the other hand for The Attacks of 26/11, it was a disappointing case of a film beginning from a negative mark. Somehow it seemed that an opinion had been formed around the film even before the release as a result of which this well made affair didn’t even get a fair chance. No wonder, even when the word of mouth started spreading to some extent at least, it was way too lady as the film was already in the weekdays. As a result, The Attacks of 26/11 too gathered just around 8 crores and has turned out to be a box office downer.
It is often being said that no one can stop a good film from succeeding. Well, The Attacks of 26/11 has turned out to be an aberration to this theory. Hopefully it would get its due on satellite and home video circuit.
