Timothee Chalamet’s Dune 2 is already a big success at the worldwide box office and it continues to add some important milestones in the kitty. Directed by Denis Villeneuve, the Dune sequel was released on 1st March and it opened to extraordinary reviews from critics. Even word-of-mouth among the audience has been highly favorable, faring much better than the first installment. While the film was expected to do better, it exceeded all expectations and crossed $650 million.
Currently, Dune 2 stands at a staggering total of $665.49 million at the worldwide box office. Out of this collection, the domestic market contributed $265.09 million and internationally, the film has earned a solid chunk of $400.40 million. Out of this overall collection, the premium format of IMAX accounts for an impressive chunk of business.
As per the recent update, Dune 2 has amassed $139.4 million from IMAX alone, which is really an impressive achievement. Out of this, $64.3 million has come from the North American box office, which makes the Dune sequel 8th highest-grossing film in IMAX domestically. The overseas market has contributed $75.1 million.
With $139.4 million, the Dune sequel has come closer to Oppenheimer’s $154.5 million.
In France, Dune 2 has emerged as the 2nd highest-grossing film of all time in IMAX, standing only next to James Cameron’s Avatar: The Way Of Water aka Avatar 2.
Meanwhile, Dune 2 also stars Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Austin Butler and others in key roles.
