Dune 2 has already turned out to be a successful outing, at least at the Indian box office. Starring Timothee Chalamet and Zendaya in the leading roles, the epic sci-fi has completed its first weekend at the ticket windows. Directed by Denis Villeneuve, Dune: Part Two marks the return of Timothee Chalamet as Paul Atreides. He reunites with the Fremen people of the desert planet Arrakis to overthrow the tyrannical House Harkonnen. After the massive success of Dune (2021), fans were anticipating the sequel, and the wait was worth it. The early reviews after the paid previews on Thursday further generated curiosity among the cine-goers.
Dune vs Dune 2 Box Office
Dune: Part Two opened at the Indian box office with earnings of 3.50 crores. This includes 0.80 crores brought via paid previews on Thursday. As per the latest box office updates, the sci-fi film added 11.45 crores in the opening weekend.
There has been a constant growth in collection with each passing day. On Saturday, Timothee Chalamet and Zendaya starrer added 3.85 crores to the kitty, while 4.10 crores were earned on Sunday.
On the other hand, Dune had a total box office collection of 5 crores in India back in 2021. When compared, Dune 2 has achieved this milestone within three days, with about a 129% higher increase in numbers. Mind-blowing, isn’t it?
It will now be interesting to see how the film fairs during the weekdays and how many more records it manages to break in its lifetime at the Indian box office.
