Chennai Express went on to become 2nd highest non holiday Monday after Ranbir Kapoor starrer Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. The Shah Rukh Khan-Deepika Padukone starrer Eid release made an income of 12.60 crores and with that the film’s total collections so far has snowballed to 112.95 crores at the domestic box office.

The film couldn’t however break YJHD‘s record of highest Monday collections which remains maintained even now. The Ayan Mukerji directorial summer release made a whooping 13 crores on its 1st Monday and despite releasing on a non holiday, the film raked up 190 crore plus business.
Chennai Express has been the year’s most humongous film so far as it made a fabulous income in such short span at the box office. The film’s collections saw more than 50% drop since its Sunday figures but it still is expected to hold on strongly at the box office on weekdays!
