Ranbir Kapoor has a reason to smile. Tamasha, which opened to a positive response on Friday (10.87 crore) has seen good growth on Saturday, what with 13.17 crore coming in. With over 20% jump coming in, it is a healthy sign for the Imtiaz Ali directed film which had seen mixed reviews coming its way. Still, for Tamasha to show an escalation in collections, is a good sign indeed for the film which has been released on just a little over 2000 screens in India.

With 24.04 crore coming in two days, the film is now set for a well sustained weekend, what with 38 crore pretty much assured. Also, with some push, it could even touch the 40 crore mark, which would be superb for the film which caters to a niche audience. The film was never meant to be an all around massy affair and hence anything over a 32-33 crore weekend would have been good trending for the Sajid Nadiadwala and UTV flick. However, for the film to now comfortably go past the 35 crore mark and aim at a much higher number pretty much indicates that for the target audience, the film is working.

Tamasha is now set to score the highest weekend for Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone as their Roy (28.68 crore), Bombay Velvet (16.2 crore), and Piku (25.22 crore) had done much lesser this year. In fact this is also set to be the highest weekend ever for Imtiaz Ali as his Love Aaj Kal (28 crore) and Rockstar (35 crore) had scored lesser. In fact the lifetime total of Highway (29 crore) would be crossed by today afternoon itself.
