Join UsWith World Cup season on, Badlapur was last of the reasonable star driven films to hit the screens. Starting now till the Finals, a plethora of films would be hitting the screens every week. This Friday is no different with Dum Laga Ke Haisha and Ab Tak Chappan 2 being the notable releases of the week.
There is a stark contrast in the way both films are releasing. Dum Laga Ke Haisha was supposed to release after a couple of months but its arrival has been advanced while Ab Tak Chappan 2 was in cold storage for many years before it was suddenly revived to arrive now. In that aspect, promotion of both films has been quite limited, though Yash Raj Films has still managed to bring the songs of Ayushmann Khurranna into some focus at least. On the other hand the Nana Patekar starrer is a sequel to an immensely liked cop-gangster saga and it certainly deserved a better arrival than a hasty 10 day promotion.
All of this means that from the opening standpoint, both films would rely entirely on word of mouth and can’t really expect any massive numbers on Friday. It would be pretty much a wait and watch scenario for the two films.
