Awarapan 2 dominates the month
Emraan Hashmi’s Awarapan 2 had the benefit of a sequel working in its favor, but due to below-par promotional assets, it seemed the film might underperform compared to initial expectations. Surprisingly, it worked really well despite mixed reviews and became a super-duper hit. It contributed 154 crore net last month. Hanuman Ansh was the second-biggest contributor at the Indian box office, scoring 45.63 crore net with its extraordinary trending.
Batwara 1947 emerged as a massive failure, earning only 36.65 crore net. Given Sunny Deol’s successful run, it was expected to rake in over 100 crore net, but it let everyone down. Dhamaal 4 continued its run in August, contributing 13.45 crore net. Oh My Dog didn’t do much, scoring 4.94 crore net. Bhai Tera Star Hai contributed a dismal 62 lakh net.
