Karan Johar is prepping the stage for his 2014 Diwali release Shuddhi. Going by our sources, there’s a strong buzz that Karan plans to bring together Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor on screen after many years. Johar happily announced on Twitter about reuniting with the Agneepath team of Karan Malhotra and Hrithik Roshan for the film, which is based on the renowned book ‘The Immortal of Meluha’, but the lead actress of the film was left undecided.
Karan Johar had directed Hrithik-Kareena together in his 2001 venture Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham, and was impressed by their strong on screen chemistry. Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor were quite a hit on screen pair. The duo were slotted together in the same frames in films like Subhash Ghai’s Yaadein, YRF’s Mujhse Dosti Karoge, Main Prem Ki Deewani Hoon and even Karan Johar’s family drama Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. Their chemistry was indeed passionate as well as intriguing which did strike a chord with their fans. Despite many of these films not being a success at box office, Hrithik-Kareena has been a delightful acting jodi.
However, Karan Malhotra, the director of the film, has also hinted that Kareena is not the only actress in their mind for Shuddhi. The makers are also considering Deepika Padukone for this role. Though Malhotra decided to strictly keep mum on this issue refusing to divulge any more information than he must, he added affirmatively that Kareena and Deepika are both the finest actresses in Bollywood and hence they become immediate and natural choices. However, the female lead of Shuddhi has not been finalised yet.
Shuddhi is already one of the most anticipated films. And with its release date in order, and the team having a good past record of success, it isn’t difficult to predict that Shuddhi will surely be one of 2014’s most sought after films. With all the excitement brewing, let’s hope Diwali 2014 isn’t far away!
