When Esha Gupta did a ‘chopper’ act despite suffering from vertigo

While everyone in Bollywood has tried to defy their rules, principles and fear factors to go out of their comfort zone and present something extremely different to the audience, how could the leggy model turned actor Esha Gupta stay far? Yes, the Jannat 2 girl has done an almost death defying stunt for her next film, ‘Chakravyuh’, directed by Prakash Jha where Esha essays the role of a top cop.

The scene from her latest film required Esha to jump from a chopper, dangling in mid-air. The actress, who suffers from bouts of vertigo, was initially reclusive and apprehensive about doing the shot on her own. She insisted on a stunt woman or a body double for the same. But as soon as she saw her director shooting from another helicopter, she gained courage and decided to do the scene herself. She got herself strapped to the wired harness and offered her prayers before taking the most adventurous plunge of her life.

“I have been battling vertigo for a long time. It’s something that I deal with on a daily basis. In fact, I recently shifted into my new apartment which is on the 11th floor, but I tell my friends how I will never look down from the balcony!” Esha reminisces.

The project headed by one of the most socially committed filmmakers of today Prakash Jha also has a stellar cast comprising of the unconventional Abhay Deol, veteran Om Puri, his newly found muse Arjun Rampal and Kabir Bedi donning major roles and is scheduled for an October 5 release.
