In the last few years, there have been many comparisons between the Hindi and South film industry. Even though both cinematic worlds have merged quite a few times, the comparisons never stop. Often, Bollywood celebs are asked their view about what’s working for the South and why Hindi films lack the hold at the box office and on the audience like the old days. In the past, Akshay Kumar was also asked the same question, and he gave an interesting answer.

In 2018, when Akshay Kumar was promoting Toilet Ek Prem Katha, he was asked why the success rate of Hindi films was declining. The OMG 2 actor said, “Maybe it has got to do with our content, which is not right.” Akshay called the South Indian film industry systematic and added, “They don’t spend more than Rs 2 crore on publicity. They don’t do reality shows or too many press meets. But like us, they too release big films during Diwali and Pongal. They do reserve those dates. It is not threatening for us, but we can see some new things in cinema. Even our films release in the South, and they have never said that it is a threat. It is just that good films work.”
