Yesterday’s match at Wankhede Stadium between Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians conspicuously missed KKR team owner superstar Shah Rukh Khan, more so when Neeta Ambani cheered on for her team.

The reason for SRK’s ban on Wankhede entry is not unknown to anyone. Many friends of the actor and his staunch loyalists have come out in support of him, while the new one joining the leagues is the MNS chief, politician Raj Thackeray.

Thackeray who has spoken elaborately on his support of Khan exclaimed that it was unfair of MCA to ban SRK from entering Wankhede altogether.

Thackeray reportedly retorted saying, “He is the owner of the team. Is he some terrorist?”

Congress spokesperson for Maharashtra, Sachin Sawant also filed an official appeal to MCA asking to repel the 5 years ban on Shah Rukh Khan for misbehaving with officials at Wankhede stadium last IPL. He said, “After (Khan) publicly apologized for his misconduct, we feel that it would be in the interest of sports if your esteemed organisation shows true sportsman spirit and allows entry. A ban is not a democratic punishment especially when the person has apologized. I request you to reconsider the punishment given to him and allow entry for the match.”

IPL chief Rajeev Shukla also had tweeted that it was sad to see the team owner not allowed to watch their team play. “It is unfortunate that a team owner is not able to watch an IPL match,” he tweeted.

The MCA following the 16th May ‘unruly’ incident by SRK last year decreed a 5 years ban on him, forbidding him to enter Wankhede till then. Despite offering a public apology following the incident, the ban on Khan still persists and special orders were given to Mumbai Police denying entry to SRK.
