Probably the flavor of the month is none other than Riteish Deshmukh. While the actor has been deliberately kept away from revealing too much about Mohit Suri’s upcoming thriller Ek Villain, Koimoi found the actor in a very upbeat and cheerful mood recently. Portraying two such disparate characters could not have been easy for Riteish. While in Humshakals, he is seen constantly mimicking, giving his best comic timing cues on screen, he is Ek Villain‘s surprise element.
On being asked about the chalk and cheese difference between his roles, Deshmukh quipped, “You see I am trying to make a difference here. Usually people say how much an actor collected in a film, now people will talk about how much I collected this month.”
A session of uproarious laughter later, Riteish seriously settles down to elucidate about the differences in his roles. He said, “I hope both my films work or this will be a very sad thing for us. My steady cam operator was shocked while we were shooting. On one day I would be roaming about with a screwdriver and next day, I will be mimicking Dilip Sahab. Characters are just zones which you enter once you are on set. Once you start enjoying acting, you don’t tend to think too much into this because all the parameters are set. You simply just go in that space and say let’s do it. It’s not a stage performance. You have to be correct for that moment at that particular shot. Actor’s job isn’t very difficult. Similar looks can mean different things if there are different background scores. Salman had once told me acting is background score. Same look in different background scores and different sets, it means just a different world altogether.”
Riteish is on a roll this month. With his Marathi film, Lai Bhaari being appreciated unanimously, the actor has two solid releases this month. In both Sajid Khan’s Humshakals and Mohit Suri’s Ek Villain, the actor is hogging the limelight with his screen presence. The month is crucial for him and going by his confidence, there is a good chance that both films will fare well.
