Yes, you heard us right; the director-producer-writer-editor is working on the sequel to Lage Raho Munnabhai and yet another script at the same time!
In an interview with Komal Nahta, Raju Hirani admitted that he’s scrapped the idea of making Munnabhai Chale Amreeka, “We’re not making Munnabhai Chale Amreeka… I had written it to a point but I felt that similar films had been made: like (the track about) chasing the president in My Name Is Khan. Even Singh Is Kinng had the concept of bringing someone back.”
So what’s next? Hirani is nonchalant. “Effectively I’m working on two scripts right now and one of them is the third Munnabhai franchise. So I work on one script for a week and when I feel that I’m running out of ideas, I work on the other script. There’s also the factor of living up to the expectations of people with the yardstick that Munnabhai has created.”
Does that mean that he has a couple of record-breaking movies in the making? We certainly hope so.
