Ileana DCruz is often deemed to be choosy about her films but the actress is clear that she has her priorities in place about her films. She agrees that being choosy comes from doing multiple films in the South.
She, in an interview to Koimoi, explained, “It is okay to be a bit choosy. After doing 16 films, down South, you tend to get picky. You have done so many films that it is okay to slow down, take a step back decide which project you want to invest on. I decided that there is no better place or time to do this than here. I don’t want to do a film I will later be irritated about. I want to do films in which I am whole heartedly enjoying. I thoroughly enjoyed Happy Ending. Main Tera Hero too was amazing. I want to have a good time. I want to enjoy work.”
In retrospect, the actress adds, “I started work when I was 18. Now I am 28. So it’s been a very long time. I want to take it easy, enjoy now! I want to do special work. I don’t like rushing anymore.”
Ileana, was first noticed conspicuously in Anurag Basu’s Barfi. When quizzed about whether she is still open to doing such different films, she was quick to reply, “I will love to do a Barfi again. I enjoyed the whole process. It was a very tough film. I enjoyed the whole process very much. Me and Dada (Anurag Basu) used to have a lot of fights. But it was an experience. He is one of the most honest people I know and the fact that he can come around and admit his fault is a rare quality is this industry which can be really superficial. I haven’t met someone like him, in a place where the norm is to take people for granted. But working with him was such fun. I cried when the film was over. I was so upset during my last shot. I want that connection with the movies I do.”
Being choosy might have its cons as well; the actress might miss out on life altering films. She was confident she won’t. She signed off with, “I won’t miss out on good films because I am here to do good films afterall.”
Ileana will be seen in Saif Ali Khan starrer Happy Ending which hits theaters this Friday.
