The Abhishek Bachchan starrer Dum Maaro Dum made a total of Rs. 14.25 crore in all-India net collections in its first weekend. The film, based on the drug menace in Goa, had not opened too well last Friday (April 22nd, 2010).
The film netted a total of Rs. 4.75 crore on Friday, Rs. 4 crore on Saturday and Rs. 4.75 crore on Sunday. Paid previews of the film held on Thursday night added another Rs. 75 lakh to the kitty.
Collections Crash On Monday
However, box-office collections of the film crashed on Monday. Due to the disappointing collections on the first weekend, the producers of ‘Dum Maaro Dum’, Fox Star Studios and Rohan Sippy, will stand to lose money on their investment (Rs. 33 crore approx – production + print + publicity) in the film.
