Amazed by The Amazing Spiderman last week? Did the film do justice to the series immortalized on screen by Toby McGuire? Or as many critics are pointing out, is this the Spiderman for the kids, for the teens of today? Because surely, the new Spiderman is not geeky enough and we get no Mary Jane either. In the wake of such debates about this 2012 release, let us view the upcoming 5 Hollywood action films that are riding the watch lists of many across the globe.
The Dark Knight Rises
Set to release this July, its posters and trailers are making fanatics go absolutely crazy. This is the time for some ultimate DC Universe worship as this Christopher Nolan project hits the screen. After 2008 The Dark Knight, we cannot be blamed for being in love with the series. Then there is also the whole Batman worship agenda. Over all, this is set to be larger than Avengers. Watch Christian Bale, Michael Caine and Gary Oldman transport you to Gotham.
The Bourne Legacy
CIA is the theme and this comes from the Robert Ludlum stable. Now do you or do you not remember Matt Damon as Jason Bourne from the 3 predecessors in the series? Keeping in mind the Bourne Identity, the Bourne Supremacy and the Bourne Ultimatum, we Hollywood fanatics might just have expectations shoot roof high for this Tony Gilroy project. Watch out for Jeremy Renner, Rachel Weisz, Edward Norton and Joan Allen as the ever so dynamic Pam Landy. This is set to be an August release.
Taken II
Taken I was an exceptional movie that took Liam Neeson to an all new place of worship as far as action stars are considered. He is the ex CIA who left work because the extra hours had already taken him ages away from what he loves the most: family. So when his 17 year old daughter gets kidnapped my an East European mob in Paris, all hell breaks loose as the father goes ahead to use all assets to bring back the girl and kill the abductors. We loved Taken. We loved the subtle family sub plot. And we loved Liam Neeson. This Oliver Megaton project will see Bryan Mills, that is Liam, and his wife kidnapped by the father of the mob star he killed on the mission to rescue the daughter. Keep an eye out for performances by Liam Neeson, Famke Janssen and Maggie Grace. This is set to be an October release.
 Looper
The thing about time travel movies in Hollywood is that they are either just awesome or not at all good. So the future of this Rian Johnson project is hard to predict. All we can say is that the story , if put well on screen, can be entertaining. It will be interesting to see how a mob hit man of the 2042 deals with the job of killing himself, sent to him from the future. And let us please not forget that Bruce Willis generally does not really take up projects that do not speak for itself. In this movie, watch out for Joseph Gordon – Levitt , Bruce Willis, Emily Blunt.
Skyfall
Bond is back! And this time he is more chic than ever, that is me being biased while going by the poster. On a more serious note, this is where 007’s loyalty towards M is put to an incomparable test. This time personal sacrifices must be made to save MI6. Based on Ian Fleming’s immortal characters, this is being directed by Sam Mendes. Be ready to be amazed by Daniel Craig, Helen McCrory and Javier Bardem. Skyfall is set to be released in November.
