Ramayan actor Shyam Sundar Kalani passed away on April 6 in Kalka town. Kalani had played the roles of Bali and Sugriva in Ramananand Sagar’s 1987 mythological series that also starred Arun Govil, Dipika Chikhlia and late actor Dara Singh. As per the reports, he was suffering from cancer.
Shyam Sundar’s co-star Arun Govil who played Lord Ram in the show took to his Twitter page of offer his respects. Arun tweeted, “Sad to know about demise of Mr. Shyam Sundar who played the role of Sugreev in Ramanand Sagar’s “Ramayan”… A very fine person and a gentleman. May his soul rest in peace.”
Actor Sunil Lahri who played the role of Laxman in Ramayan also offered condolences to the late actor. Sunil Lahri shared, “Very sad and sorry to hear sudden demise of our colleague Mr Shyam Kalani who played the role of sugriv and Bali with us in Ramayan God give peace to his soul and strength to his family to face irrecoverable loss…. RIP”

Along with playing Bali and Sugriva, Shyam Sundar Kalani also essayed the role of Bheem in Mahabharat. This is indeed sad news as Shyam’s show Ramayan is rerunning again on TV and receiving a great response from the audience.
