The Rugged Times On The Sets Of ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’

All the fun comes at a heavy price in the real world. Going by the teasers of the film Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani looks all fun. But the field experience has been very rugged for the team. The main adventure happened during the shooting in the hostile terrains of Shimla, informed the film’s director Ayan Mukherji.

The snowy scenes of the film have been extensively shot in Himachal and Kashmir. The bitter cold weather of January did not quite help the cast and crew of the film who had to deal with frostbiting cold and food shortage due to the heavy snowfall in the region. Getting food at that altitude is definitely a hassle as a result of which the team had to survive on eggs and magi for a couple of days.

Sources confirmed, “It was very cold. And the hotel in which Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone stayed, had power cuts for several hours a day. There were no heaters either.”

However, for most , the adventure was splendid. Ayan added, “Our first schedule was in Manali. We were depicting a trek in the movie, so we consciously chose locations that were offbeat and in the middle of nowhere. Jalori Pass, especially, was a crazy location. It was a steep, uphill climb to reach the location, a real trek of sorts. However, our shoot ended up being even more fun because of all this. It was perhaps the best schedule of the film.”

The film is one of the most anticipated releases this year and is slated for a May 31st release. The film stars Deepika Padukone, Ranbir Kapoor, Aditya Roy Kapur and Kalki Koechlin in lead roles.
