Lori Nelson, the beauty from the 1950s has passed away. The ‘Revenge of the Creature’ actress was 87 when she died on Sunday. Nelson and her family moved to Encino when she was young and was signed by Universal on her 17th birthday.
Nelson had been suffering from Alzheimer’s disease for several years. She breathed her last at her home in the Porter Ranch section of Los Angeles, said her daughter, Jennifer Mann.
Lori Nelson made her film debut in the 1952 Western Bend of the River. Later that year, she played Rosie Kettle in the comedy film ‘Ma and Pa Kettle at the Fair.’ In 1955, Nelson reprised her role as ‘Rosie in Ma and Pa Kettle at Waikiki.’ She also starred in the ‘Revenge of the Creature’ – the sequel of ‘Creature From the Black Lagoon’ and ‘Underwater!’. In ‘Revenge of the Creature,’ Nelson played a student named Helen who is snatched from a seaside restaurant by a smitten Gill Man.
Lori Nelson made her mark in ‘I Died a Thousand Times’ (1955), a remake of the Humphrey Bogart classic ‘High Sierra.’ In this movie, she essayed the role of the club-footed love interest of Jack Palance’s crook. Her other notable performances include ‘Pardners’ (1956) opposite Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis and ‘Tumbleweed’ (1953) opposite Audie Murphy.
On television, Nelson featured in the psychology major/game show as the usher Greta Hanson on the syndicated comedy ‘How to Marry a Millionaire.’ Based on the 1953 Fox film, her character was written out of the show, and Lisa Gaye was brought in to replace her.
Lori Nelson also starred in the telefilm ‘The Pied Piper of Hamelin’. She guest-starred on shows like ‘Climax!’, ‘Wagon Train’, ‘Tales of Wells Fargo’, ‘The Tab Hunter Show’, ‘Bachelor Father’ and ‘Family Affair’.
