Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire is showing a promising run at the box office in its second weekend. Dev Patel’s Monkey Man is also getting enough praise from moviegoers, occupying a secure place at the box office chart. Scroll below to get more deets.

Godzilla x Kong is the fifth installment in the MonsterVerse and exceeded all expectations in its opening weekend itself. The movie was expected to make around $50 million at the domestic box office but made $80 million. The box office numbers worldwide were also mindblowing as it made a whopping $194 million as opposed to its expected $135 million. Meanwhile, Dev Patel’s movie arrived at the cinemas this weekend and received positive reviews from the viewers.

According to Variety’s report, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire earned a decent $8.5 million on Friday, facing a drop of 77% from its opening day. It could drop by 60% across the three-day frame, according to the media outlet. Still, it aims to reach the top of the box office chart and has crossed North America’s $100 million mark.

As per Box Office Mojo’s data, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire has earned $226.93 million at the worldwide box office as of now. On the other hand, Monkey Man is eyeing the second spot and has earned $4.2 million on Friday and previews. Dev Patel directed and starred in this action thriller and is eyeing a $10.5 million on its opening weekend across 3,029 locations. The movie was made on a reported budget of $10 million.

The horror flick The First Omen from the 20th Century Studios earned $3.2 million across Friday and preview screenings. Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire is expected to take the fourth spot with a 42% drop in its third weekend. It is expected to go past the $85 million numbers domestically. Lastly, Kung Fu Panda 4 is eyeing the fifth spot on the list with a 23% drop this weekend and earned $8 million.
