Join UsThere are certain films where you know that there won’t be stopping them from turning into box office winners. This was truly the case with Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety where it was predicted that 6-7 crore opening was pretty much on the cards. After all, there was audience curiosity to watch the film and there wasn’t anything negative that was floating around it either right from its first promo to the release.
This is what happened as the film opened to 6.42 crore on Friday. Considering the fact that even a big film like Aiyaary could barely bring in 3.36 crore just a week ago, this one comes across as a remarkable number.
This isn’t all since in entire 2017, only 17 films (from Baahubali 2 to Munna Michael) had scored better than Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety and that when these were all much higher budgeted films. For a film of this scale and size, a number in excess of 6 crore is really good and clearly conveys how audiences can sniff a good entertainer from really far away.
What needs to be seen now is where does this Luv Ranjan directed film eventually land up. Looking at the trend so far, it won’t be surprising if the weekend ends up touching 25 crore. That would set this Kartik Aryan, Nushrat Bharucha and Sunny Singh film for a good run ahead.

On the other hand Welcome To New York has turned out to be a non-starter. With less than 1 crore coming in on its first day, this Sonakshi Sinha, Diljit Dosanjh and Karan Johar film needs a huge turnaround over the weekend if it has to go past a one week run.
