On 24 February 2018, Bollywood’s ‘first female superstar’ Sridevi passed away. Her untimely demise shook up the entire nation, especially her friends and family. Her husband Boney Kapoor and daughters Jhanvi and Khushi were left inconsolable while celebrities like Karan Johar, Manish Malhotra, and Amitabh Bachchan mourned for their friend.

According to reports, Sridevi was going to work alongside Sanjay Dutt, Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan in Shiddat, a Dharma Production. It was to be directed by Abhishek Varman, who previously directed 2 States. In an interview sometime back with After Hrs, Karan Johar said, “I’m so happy that Sridevi is doing a film with us, although I’m sad I’m not directing it.”

Karan Johar Shelves ‘Shiddat’ To Support Sridevi’s Family
Shiddat: Karan Johar Does Not Want To Rush To Find A Replacement For Sridevi

Some speculate that Karan Johar, who has currently shelved the project to take charge of her daughters, might scrape the entire project. Others say Madhuri Dixit might be offered the role.

According to DNA, a source close to the filmmaker says, “Karan was extremely fond of Sridevi and they shared an amazing relationship. He doesn’t want to rush to find a replacement right away. That is certainly not on his priority list. Karan will sit with the team next week and then decide who they want to approach for the role that was offered to Sridevi.”

The filmmaker is currently supporting his protégée Jhanvi Kapoor, who will be making her Bollywood debut with Dhadak.
