Baahubali director SS Rajamouli’s RRR: Rise Revolt Roar (in Hindi) is one of the most awaited magnum opuses across the country. Alongside many reasons to be excited, one is Ajay Devgn’s presence in the cast. While a lot has been kept under wraps, the grapevine today has that the actor will be playing a freedom fighter in the film. Below are all the other details.
Alongside Ajay Devgn, RRR stars Jr NTR and Ram Charan as real-life freedom fighters, Komaram Bheem and Alluri Sitarama Raju. Now according to the reports, Ajay will be playing the mentor to the two. His character is that of a nationalist and a guru to the two in their younger years.
Talking about the filming process, Ajay Devgn has shot for 10 days in Ramoji Film City for RRR. A source close to the development told Mumbai Mirror, “Ajay has shot for around 10 days at Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad, where Delhi from the 1900s was recreated. He appears in the flashback scenes.”

Meanwhile, Ajay Devgn has worked with SS Rajamouli in his genre bender film Makkhi. There were many actors in the race for RRR but Ajay was a unanimous choice for the part. “Rajamouli paid a tribute to him in Makkhi and the two have been good friends since. Ajay gave the nod within minutes of the narration. Though it is an extended cameo, his track will remind one of his National Award-winning performance in The Legend of Bhagat Singh and sets the tone for the drama involving the two leads,” said the source.
Meanwhile, alongside Ajay Devgn, RRR also stars Alia Bhatt. Talking about her prep, the source said how the actor has used this time to master her part. Alia is also learning Telugu from a tutor to perfect the nuances.
However, Alia Bhatt will now join the team after the pandemic subsides. Talking about the resumption of shooting, the source said “Around 25 per cent of the shoot still remains. With Ramoji Film City and other studios in Hyderabad opening up for shoots, Rajamouli is expected to resume work as soon as SoPs are in place. Given the scale, it’s a difficult film to shoot and the makers are exploring different options. They are planning a two-day test shoot in Gandipet without the lead actors later this week.”
RRR is a magnum opus and the first look was a specimen to it. The makers are now aiming for an April 2021 end release. Ironically it is the same period when Baahubali: The Conclusion released.
