Mohd. Rafi and Madan Mohan, one of the finest singer-music composer jodis of Bollywood, is back! Two unreleased, unheard songs by the late maestros are being launched on a website on the occasion of Mohd. Rafi’s death anniversary (31st July).

Both the songs – Ya Illahi, ek haseena ne machai hai tabahi and Har sapna ek din toote, iss duniya mein – were recorded in the artistes’ lifetimes, but remained unreleased as the respective films were shelved, and details of the songs remained unknown. While the first song, recorded in the mid-’60s and located by the Madan Mohan family from his master spools, is a naughty, frothy number sung by Rafi Saab in his inimitable style, the latter is a philosophical song recorded in the early ’70s. A line of the second song, Har saathi ek din chhoote iss duniya mein, rings true for Madanji and Rafi Saab, both of whom left the music world so early and in the prime of their careers.

Incidentally, these two songs were not included in a special compilation of seven unreleased songs by Mohd. Rafi and Madan Mohan, in the album, Tere Bagair, that was released by the Madan Mohan family in 2009. The songs can be accessed at www(dot)madanmohan(dot)in.
