Meghna Gulzar directorial Raazi went on to have both the audiences and critics raving and also struck gold at the box office, much like the director’s last release Talvar.
Meghna’s was praised for handling a nationalist subject with utmost sensibility, at a time when patriotism in Hindi films are often associated with jingoism.
Similarly, the filmmaker also showcased her fine storytelling skills with Talvar, that presented two contradictory accounts of the 2008 Noida double murder case.
The critics lauded Meghna’s completely objective and unbiased handling of the film, calling it a “gripping, genre-defying and non-exploitative cinematic examination” and one of the most riveting movies of our time.
Says a trade source, “Meghna Gulzar has fast become synonymous with real cinema. Her style of film-making is impactful without being over the top and preachy and that is what makes her films so engaging and sincere. Very few filmmakers have the knack of capturing realism, while making a gripping entertainer and Meghna Gulzar has aced it in this genre.”
