Ekta Kapoor along with her two beautiful and stunning Daayans recently were on a short trip to Kolkata to promote their film Ek Thi Daayan. Already creating ripples in the industry with two jaw dropping trailers and an enticing plotline, Ek Thi Daayan is easily one of the most anticipated films of the year.
Dressed in a red sari with her hair fringed to a side, Konkona Sen Sharma seemed excited and overjoyed, given that this is her first horror outing. “This is the first time I am doing a horror film, that too a film which is a collaboration of a lot of talented people. Of course, there is Huma Qureshi, Kalki Koechlin, Emraan Hashmi and then there is Vishal Bhardwaj who I am a big fan of! To top it all, this film is being made by Balaji who has revolutionized the term innovation in today’s Era. The fact that Ekta would market it well was a fact that has been there in my mind from Day one. Horror is a very interesting concept now and when we are doing it in the Indian concept of daayans. I think it is something new that people would watch.”
But not much ago was the self proclaimed Bengali Wiccan priestess Ipsita Roy Chakraverti creating havoc in the life of the producer, who has always been a soft target for people to file a case against. Ekta, who has battled legal issues during the Ragini MMS release, seemed to take the my-way-or-the-highway track when questioned about the entire controversy. “I have nothing to say and I am having my legal stands You never know tomorrow the aliens, rather some self proclaimed aliens would come and say that they have a problem with the way aliens are being depicted in Krrish 3 (Laughs). We might have someone who would come and say that I am an alien and the aliens are being shown regressively in the film. You know what to say when a daayan says the same to you without even watching your film. It is a supernatural character so who knows Super Man might just come and say he doesn’t like wearing the underwear outside his suit. I have nothing else to say,” laughed out the so called temperamental producer with giggles all around!
Huma, who has shown immense potential in all the films that she has worked for, is a slowly rising star of the industry and she shares screen space with Emraan Hashmi for the first time in this film. When asked about her working experience, the lovely lady was all smiles. “It was great working with Emraan. He is a wonderful co star to work with and he made it really easy for me to sketch out my character. Even though there was a lot of supernatural ambience on the sets, it was fun being on the sets, cracking jokes and having fun,” smiled the actress who gifted us with some superlative persons.
While the Daayans are donning their wicked avatar this Friday, keep guessing as to who would turn out to be the real Daini-buri aka the Daayan of Kannan iyer’s Ek Thi Daayan!
