Bollywood’s stars may have made it big, but they haven’t forgotten their humble beginnings. The starry lights haven’t dimmed the memories of their teachers, so on Guru Purnima, here’s what the stars were tweeting…

Shah Rukh Khan included his teachers and his filmy experience in his short note, “On Guru Purnima…I thank all my teachers & all the films I am part of. Both have taught me…how much more there is to know.”

Karan Johar was more direct in thanking his mentors, “Guru Purnima today…. (I) have to thank Aditya Chopra and Shah Rukh Khan for teaching me everything I know…” Karan sure has a lot to thank Aditya for; the director-producer began his career as an assistant director for Aditya Chopra’s record-breaking film Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge starring Shah Rukh Khan. Shah Rukh also did not mind acting the guru. He replied to Karan Johar, “Yeah touch my feet today when you see me. Also get me some cool gift & I will give you ashirvad.”

Director Kunal Kohli, the Bollywood buff, listed away the ace directors of Bollywood as his inspirations, “My gurus: Vijay Anand, Bimal Roy, Raj Kapoor, Yash Chopra, Guru Dutt, Manoj Kumar, Ramesh Sippy, Raj Khosla, Mahesh Bhatt. I’m their Eklavya.”

Hottie Mallika Sherawat may be in a different continent altogether, but she too made sure she didn’t miss the occasion and even posted a picture with the caption, “Happy Guru Purnima, tweeps”

Here’s what actresses Lara Dutta, Riya Sen and Dia Mirza had on their mind:

Lara Dutta: “Day to bow down & give thanks, & celebrate our Guru! Feeling happy & very special today! must be something in the air! Happy Guru Purnima!

Riya Sen: A little note on Guru Purnima: I’d like thank my family, teachers, books and friends to have helped me in my becoming!

Dia Mirza: On Guru Purnima, I bow my head in gratitude to my Parents, Teachers, Guruji and all those who have taught me. Blessed to have your guidance.

Now these are some students their teachers would definitely be proud of!
