Vidya Balan dons an interesting shade for her role in Bobby Jasoos. The actress, who constructed her role of a female detective out of detective films she had watched and the similar stories she had read, told Koimoi that she isn’t really a fan of them.

Vidya in a recent interview said, “I am not really a big fan of detective stories. That is why the story of this film touched me so deeply. Detective films are very heavy but this is essentially an aspirational and humane story.”

Continuing on the same vein, the actress discussed vividly about her disguises in the film. Reports suggested that she had to try over 100 looks, out of which a dozen were chosen for the final film.

The actress obviously found it great fun to work with different looks. She explained, “We spent a lot of time on the disguises. Some of the disguises required me to look closer to Bobby, some had to be completely different so that’s where male disguises came in. And even the male disguises needed to look different from each other. Disguises aren’t entirely about just sticking on moustache and beard. It was expected of us that we do something starkly different each time. We had looks of peon, astrologer, beggar, maulavi, churi wala to the female disguise of a very over the top saree clad producer et al . We put in a lot of effort for the looks but it was very enjoyable. It is the biggest high for any actor. With every film I have done, I have tried to give the character a distinct look and had an opportunity to do that. But this time in one film alone I have that opportunity.”

Vidya’s adventurous side was unleashed the best when the actress kept trying more and more looks despite the 12 best ones getting shortlisted.
