Happy Friendship Day: What does Friendship day remind you of? Those Archies and Hallmark Cards for BFF’s with a band and chocolate being exchanged before morning school assembly so that we can all show off our fancy friendship bands. Ah, those were the days! It has been celebrated around the globe from 1958. And how do we celebrate friendships day now? Getting up late on a Sunday morning with a hangover because either we were depressed drinking last night or happy drinking but somehow forget to wish our besties.
And how do I even remember that it’s friendships day? No, not by looking at my phone or date but with long abusive messages from my close friends on how can I not wish them and be dead till two O’clock in the afternoon. Well, life happened lately. Yes, I clearly remember my parents telling me, “Pad lo, sarkaari naukri se achha kuch nahi hain!” but “Ab Pachhtaye Hot Kya, Jab Chidiya Chug Gayi Khet”, I hope you feel me here. I know you do, even if you don’t show it.
From dancing to ‘Brazil’ by Vengaboys to sending songs like ‘Tera yaar hoon main’ on Whatsapp to each-other, we have all grown up. Bollywood have been really famous for their heartbreaks to friendships. Here are the five B-Town besties whose friendship couldn’t sustain in the hard times:
Kareena Kapoor Khan- Esha Deol:
Yes, Amrita Arora wasn’t always Kareena’s best friend but Esha. Back in 2002, Kareena spoke about being friends with Esha and said, “She’s one of my closest friends. I’m already six films old…or young, I treat her like a younger sister. I teach her the do’s and don’ts. She’s as excitable and temperamental as I am. We like and dislike the same things. We’re quite sure our friendship is envied by everyone.”
We still don’t know what went wrong but we would want to see these two together doing the same PDA again!
Shah Rukh Khan- Rohit Shetty:
Couldn’t believe it? Me either. But this happened when Dilwale failed and SRK had put the blame on Rohit. It did piss Rohit off and since then this actor-director duo hasn’t worked together and have no projects on cards in the future too!
Trending
Govinda- David Dhawan:
This is the most recent one in Bollywood. Govinda spitting such harsh words about the director is not cool at all. Govinda when promoting one of his movies said, “No, I don’t want to work with him as he didn’t stand by me during my bad phase. When a person thinks that you are not competent enough to do his film or work with him, one should not ask for work from that person. I think the love between us that has been there over the years should remain the same. We have not worked together for many years. I have nothing to do with his films nor do I discuss his films. Currently, he is a proud father; let him be happy.”
Enough said already?
Sonam Kapoor- Deepika Padukone:
Sonam Kapoor has always been very blunt about things in life. This one time when Sonam appeared on Koffee with Karan, she made a nasty comment on Deepika’s style sense which later offended Deepika. And since then both the actors have not been friends.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali- Karan Johar:
Where there is fight, Karan is always there! Just kidding. During one episode of Koffee with Karan with Sonam Kapoor, Karan lashed out on SLB and said, “I’m told he doesn’t watch my show. If he had issues, he could have spoken to me privately instead of lashing out in print (published in a mainline daily). What he did was uncalled for, given that I’ve gone on record on every national and international platform to say that Sanjay Leela Bhansali is one of our finest filmmakers and a great visionary.” When Sonam was asked about her opinion on waking up as SLB one day, she said, “Get colour in my life — apart from Blue and Black.”
Later, when SLB got to know this, he said, “Both Karan and Sonam need to learn to have more restraint, dignity and respect for fellow filmmakers,” he had said. Responding to his comment, Karan says, “So many people have said so much about me. I’ve kept quiet because I’ve been brought up well. Sonam too has great lineage. We have great respect for Sanjay, but he seems to lack a sense of humour.”
Well, the list can go on but let’s just end it here because honestly, there are better things to remember about Bollywood than these tiff!
