Is it wise for Eros to release the Pakistani film, BOL, on Ramzan Eid (August 31) in direct opposition of the Salman Khan starrer, BODYGUARD?
Komal Nahta: There’s always scope for more than one film on the occasion of festivals like Diwali and Ramzan Eid.
After the success of DABANGG and SINGHAM, will action films come into fashion once again?
Komal Nahta: A number of action films are already under production. Reliance Entertainment has created a record of sorts this week. As many as five films produced/distributed by the corporate house are running in cinemas this week. The films: Singham (production venture), Cowboys & Aliens (English and Hindi dubbed, distribution), I Am Kalam (distribution), Aarakshan (distribution in Bombay, Delhi-U.P., Nizam and Overseas), Phhir (distribution). Three more films are due for release this month by Reliance. They are: Fright Night (English) on 19th, Shabri on 26th and Bodyguard on 31st.
Was the ban on AARAKSHAN not avoidable at all?
Komal Nahta: The ban may not have happened if Prakash Jha would’ve taken a softer stand right from the beginning of the controversy rather than after the ban. But one can say this on hind sight. Obviously, even Jha must not have imagined that the controversy would snowball into a ban, that too, initially, by three state governments. (Punjab and Andhra Pradesh later lifted the ban.)
