Director Rohit Dhawan makes his debut with Desi Boyz. Though Rohit is the son of the King of Comedy, David Dhawan, it took him two years to convince Akshay Kumar and John Abraham to get on board.
Akshay Won’t Romance Deepika
Akshay Kumar and Deepika Padukone have acted together in two other films. Director Rohit Dhawan felt that pairing the them together again might be boring for the audience. That’s why Deepika is paired with John Abraham, while Akki romances Chitrangada Singh in Desi Boyz.
The Pole Dancers!
In the movie, John Abraham and Akshay Kumar’s characters are affected by the recession and become male escorts. Being the “professionals” that they are, the Desi Boyz even learnt pole-dancing for the film!
No Pink Dress
Rumours about Chitrangada Singh and Deepika Padukone’s alleged fight over a pink dress made the rounds when the film was being shot in the United Kingdom. To this, Chitrangada said, “There is no pink dress in the film! In fact, Deepika and I barely shot together for 1 or 2 days for the film.”
Rewind
While directors and actors may very well know each other off-screen as well, the case of Akshay and Rohit was a bit different. Akshay Kumar has known Rohit’s father, David Dhawan since 1997. He recollects, “Rohit used to play on my lap! I remember during the shooting of Mr. & Mrs. Khiladi, I used to bounce him on my lap and play catch-catch with him…”
