Actress Deepika Padukone received rave reviews for her portrayal of the outspoken and devil-may-care attitude Veronica in Cocktail. Little did she know she would have to play a similar role again.
Deepika who will be seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Ram Leela is playing the role of Juliet, who is from a village in Kutch. Sans her Prada and Gucci outfits from Cocktail, Deepika will be seen wearing ghagra-cholis and oxidized jewelry in Ram Leela. Not just this but Deepika will also be shown to abuse frequently and play a total street smart girl. For her role, Deepika had to shed a lot of her inhibitions and behave like a local from Kutch to get in the skin of the character. She is said to have worked hard to get a perfect gujju accent and took time out to work on her diction.
Deepika is said to have also approved to doing a lot of intimate scenes for her role of Juliet. Sources say that SLB who loved her role in Cocktail, wanted Deepika to shed her inhibitions a notch further and made sure her personality also moulded into that of an earthy, daughter-of-the-soil woman.
