Ajay Devgn is back again, three months after the release of the massive Singham Returns collaborating for the first time with the man behind a few of the best masala entertainers this decade, Prabhudheva. It is a popularly held belief that Rohit Shetty and Prabhudheva have a similar style and approach towards filmmaking. Though Rohit Shetty is considered Manomohan Desai’s heir in commercial films, Prabhudheva has brought to Bollywood the spice from South this industry was oblivious to.
Ajay has worked with both; Rohit more so but he doesn’t agree that Rohit and Prabhudheva are any similar to each other in terms of their films or their approach. They are as different as chalk and cheese. Ajay, in an interview to Koimoi, exclaimed, “I don’t think Rohit and Prabhudheva have a similar style or similar approach to commercial cinema. Both are completely different. They are action based, comedy focused entertainers but their style of film-making is completely different. Prabhu and Rohit believe in different kinds of styling.”
Continuing from the same, he adds, “Prabhu believes in making his characters more stylish. Rohit prefers to keep the characters very real and palpable. Prabhu keeps the action in his films very stylized. Even in this film, the action has a stark peppiness to it.”
Coming to his latest escapade with Prabhudheva, titled Action Jackson, the actor was asked to trim down. Ajay admits, “I lost weight for this film. In this film, Prabhu was specific that I need to lean down and lose weight. Prabhu didn’t want me look like Singham. Martial arts is something I take a keen interest in. I had not trained in Swartz in quite sometime. Earlier I used to do Swartz. I did learn some taekwondo as well. The action in this film is great!”
Action Jackson is all set to release on December 5th and is the first time Prabhudheva is directing Ajay Devgn. The film also stars Sonakshi Sinha, Yami Gautam and Manasvi alongside Ajay.
