As Guzaarish inches to its release and following the copyright row, it seems like the movie is courting trouble yet again. A poster of the film, which has Aishwarya Rai Bachchan smoking a cigarette while Hrithik Roshan looks on, has invited the ire of the medical community. According to them, Ash, being an icon for the youth, is giving them a wrong impression about the hazard that smoking is.

Protesting the show of smoking in the posters, the non-profit organisation Doctors for You has decided to wear black badges on day of the release of the film. Though on-screen smoking was banned by Union Minister of Health, Dr Anbhumani Ramadoss in 2005, the ban was lifted in 2009.

A clip of Aishwarya sharing a cigarette with Hrithik is also part of the trailers/promos released. But in the trailer Ash coughs immediately after she inhales a bit of the smoke. We wonder why no one spoke up then. Hrithik Roshan had picked up the habit of smoking during the filming of ‘Guzaarish’ and as his character in the movie smokes. Though he found it difficult to quit the habit once the shooting was over, the actor had later found the strength to leave the cancer sticks during the shooting of Zoya Akhtar Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara.

Though the promo hit screens long ago, we’re surprised that doctors took noticed the poster during the week of the movie’s release. Something smells fishy…
