Brolin is married to Kathryn Boyd, but before her, he was with Diane Lane, and the arrest occurred during that time. Lane is an American actress who made her film debut at 14 with A Little Romance. She is known for her works in Unfaithful, Under the Tuscan Sun, and others. She also plays the role of Superman’s mother, Martha Kent, in Man of Steel, starring Henry Cavill. Lane has appeared as Martha in other DC films as well.

Diane Lane and Josh Brolin married in 2004 in August, and in December, the Dune 2 star was arrested on a domestic abuse charge. Police officer Grace Brady told the New York Daily News that they responded to a call from Lane. However, the actress reportedly dismissed the incident as a misunderstanding that went too far. The couple’s representative told the Daily News about that.
Their rep said, “Diane did not want to press charges and asked them not to arrest him, but in cases involving the possibility of any physical contact, the police have to arrest first and ask questions later.” However, Josh Brolin was booked and released on $20K bail. A friend of the couple also added that neither of them was injured, but still, the Dune 2 actor faced a court date on the misdemeanor charge.

Josh Brolin and Diane Lane parted ways in 2013, and addressing the 2004 arrest, the Marvel star explained that he’s never been so careful with his words. Reflecting on the incident, he said, “And there’s no reason for me to be other than there’s no explaining it. Do you know what I mean? The only person who can explain that would be Diane [Lane], and she’s chosen not to, so I’m O.K. with that.”
