Bollywood stars have often faced the worst criticism over various issues. And many celebs, over the years, have been called out for disrespecting the National Flag. Most of these events or incidents were either miscalculated or went viral at the wrong moment. But stars have time and again proved that they love the country as much as we do.

Right from Amitabh Bachchan to Salman Khan, and Shah Rukh Khan to Shilpa Shetty, Bollywood celebs were called out for not honoring the tricolor, despite the incident being totally unintentional. There were criticism and legal aspects involved.

While the National Flag Of India has been helping the stars achieve a respectable Independence Day Box Office over the years with the Deshbhakti flavor, we found some instances when the stars were called out for being not deshbhakt enough, off-screen.

Salman Khan & Pakistan’s National Flag

It was during the shooting of Bharat, helmed by Ali Abbas Zafar that the team had to go through a lot of troubles! For a scene, the team had to create the India – Pakistan border, and they decided to put up a set. Since it was the border, Pakistan’s National Flag was also hoisted. But the locals went mad when they came to know that Pakistan’s National flag was hoisted in India. Salman Khan & his team had to wrap the shoot quickly and leave looking at the tension that was building up!

Shah Rukh Khan – The Unintentional Blunder!

SRK was once celebrating the Cricket World Cup win of 2011, where he was seen holding the tricolor upside down with green color at the top and saffron at the bottom. While no one had noticed the blunder then, someone pointed it out in 2012, and Shah Rukh Khan was booked under the Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act, 1971.

Akshay Kumar Does The Same!

Even Akshay Kumar was called out for holding India’s national flag upside down while he enjoyed the ICC Women’s World Cup Final in Lords in 2017. The actor later clarified, “What happened is, I was unfurling the flag, and at the time, I noticed it was upside down. While I was trying to steady it, someone clicked a photo from behind, and I did not even notice it. But if someone’s sentiments are hurt, I seek an apology.”

Shilpa Shetty & The Shoe!

Shilpa Shetty, a few years ago, was trolled brutally for hoisting the National Flag of India without removing her shoes. However, the actress decided to shut the trolls and wrote, “I am aware of the ‘Rules’ of conduct while hoisting the flag; the RESPECT for my country and THE FLAG stems from my heart and not up for questioning. I am a proud Indian. Today’s post was to share and celebrate that emotion. To all the trollers (that I usually ignore), DO NOT appreciate YOU airing your ignorance and spreading negativity on this Day. So get your facts right, and please BACK OFF.”

Sania Mirza Wanting To Quit!

The biggest controversy was when Sania Mirza’s picture landed on the internet, and she was seen sitting with cross legs in front of the National Flag. Soon there was an uproar and the tennis sensation ws so affected that she even wanted to quit!

Well, while we all love our nation, all of these mistakes were totally unintentional. But the good news is social media is getting responsible every Day, and such unnecessary controversies are getting smaller in volume!
