Rockstar director Imtiaz Ali will step in as creative producer for the official Hindi remake of the 2009 South Korean romantic action comedy, My Girlfriend Is An Agent. With UTV Motion Pictures having acquired the remake rights of the film, Imtiaz’s wife, Preety Ali, will make her debut as a producer with her recently set up production house, PI Films, and choreographer Bosco (of Bosco-Caesar fame) will debut as the director with this film.
Speaking about their alliance, Siddharth Roy Kapur, CEO, UTV Motion Pictures, said, “It’s great to be collaborating with Imtiaz, Preety and Bosco on this really exciting project. From the day our team at UTV saw MGIAA, we knew it was a film we just had to remake in Hindi. We showed the film to Imtiaz and he felt just the same.”
Imtiaz adds, “It seems like full on fun – both the film and the making. A crazy, high energy no holds barred roller coaster with this highly huggable hero and highly hyper heroine.”
My Girlfriend Is An Agent is the story of two spies who have been assigned the mission to stop a Russian crime group from stealing an advanced chemical weapon. While one of them is a sexy secret agent who is a master of all forms of martial arts and is, thereby, envied by her comrades, the other is a rookie, known to botch up every mission he’s ever been on. Interestingly they were once a couple, deeply in love, but neither aware of the other’s real job. The two try to work out their complicated relationship, while still trying to save the world.
